Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, His disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Green Pond Baptist Church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Green Pond members are involved in a variety of ministries.

Mission Outreach

Green Pond Baptist Church is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We actively support the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention in sending missionaries and supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers. In addition, we are a member church of the South Carolina Baptist Convention as well as the Colleton Baptist Association. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether that means supporting missions endeavors in our own community or short-term mission trips elsewhere in the United States or in foreign countries.

Music Ministry

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music ministry. We are always looking for musicians and vocalists. Some serve individually while others are involved in group ministries such as the church choir. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of Green Pond Baptist Church, using their talents and gifts to glorify God. Our music ministry also includes concerts with guest musicians, singers and groups.

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of Green Pond Baptist Church. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. All of our weekly services utilize video presentations (including PowerPoint presentations of the pastor’s sermon outline) on a large screen in the sanctuary. The pastor’s sermons are recorded on compact disc and are available upon request by phone or e-mail.

Counseling

Misunderstanding, confusion, resentment, and anger can flare up in anyone’s life or relationships. The pastor and other leaders at Green Pond Baptist Church serve others as counselors in a variety of ways. Their role in listening, understanding, helping, and encouraging has, by God’s grace, helped to repair relationships and encourage individuals. Sessions are by appointment are are held in the strictest of confidence.

Ushers

The usher team at Green Pond Baptist Church fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free in a secure environment. The usher team is a servant-hearted group of men whose ministry is integral to church life.

Prayer Warriors

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Green Pond Baptist Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Throughout the week, volunteers pray for their pastor, fellow church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs. Prayer is an integral part of our church life and ministry.

Sunday School

At Green Pond Baptist Church we strongly believe in an ongoing study of God’s Word. Our primary Bible study arena is our weekly Sunday School hour. With classes for every age group, there is a place for everyone from babies to senior adults. Join us to see just how exciting the Bible really is.

 Seasonal and Special Events

In addition to our regularly scheduled weekly services and ministries, Green Pond Baptist Church
hosts a variety of seasonal and special events. These include, but are not limited to, a Good Friday service, summer Vacation Bible School, a fall fellowship, a Thanksgiving celebration and various Christmas events such as our Live Nativity presentation. We find that these special events promote wonderful fellowship.
